This is a recent USCIS update announcing that any U.S. citizen seeking to adopt a Nepali child, whose case is not affected by the suspension of processing cases involving Nepali children claimed to have been found abandoned, should file the Form I-600 with the U.S. Embassy in Kathmandu.
This change in the filing location for the Form I-600 petitions applies to two groups of prospective adoptive parents who are not affected by the suspension. The first group is those who received a referral letter from the Government of Nepal�s Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare before Aug. 6, 2010, informing them of a proposed match of an abandoned child. The second group is those who seek to adopt Nepali children who were relinquished by known parent(s) and whose identity and relationship can be confirmed.
USCIS strongly encourages prospective adoptive parents to follow this procedure for their own benefit, based on growing concerns about unreliable documents, irregularities in the methods used to identify children for adoption in Nepal, and the resulting difficulties in classifying those children as orphans under U.S. immigration law. not necessarily true - for example if you get a B1 or B2 that's valid for 10 years - most likely it will exceed the validity of your passport. in that case when you renew your passport , in order to keepo using the Visa - you need to carry both the old and the new passports. H1B is the same, although for shorter duration (usually 3 years) so the issue does not come up as often. bbut of the visa is unexpired, and the passport is expired you would carry both passports to come in on the visa.

Hi,
I filed my 485 on July 5, 2007 at NSC and got my receipt number yesterday. I sent my wifes 485/765/131 on July 24, 2007 to NSC. She is on H4 currently. TOday i got my wifes receipt numbers for all 3. But to my surprise the receipt numbers were given by TSC instead of NSC.
FYI my 140 is pending with NSC.
I am just wondering if this will be a problem? Any one had been through similar situation?

A great tip from AILA to share with our readers regarding the H1B visa. It seems that H-1B petitions (http://www.h1b.biz/lawyer-attorney-1137085.html) for Speech Language Pathologists (SLP) and similar related occupations are being closely monitored to ensure that accurate job duties are being identified to confirm CGFNS (Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools) certification requirements.
There are multiple progressive occupations within the Speech Language Pathology career field including, Teachers of Speech and Hearing Handicapped (TSHH), Teachers of Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLC), Speech Language Pathologist Assistants (SLPA) and Clinical Fellows (CFY), and Speech Language Pathologists (SLP).
While all of these positions require a state license, only SLPs who are certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) may provide direct patient care without supervision, and thus, only certified SLPs require CGFNS certification.
According to CGFNS, the other related occupations (TSHH, TSSLC, SLPA, and CFY, all of which require a minimum of a bachelor's degree, a license, and direct supervision by a licensed SLP) do not provide independent patient care and must be supervised by a licensed SLP and, therefore, are not eligible for CGFNS certification.
USCIS officers ask that H petitioners carefully delineate the job duties of positions within this career field so that officers can determine whether the position is one of the SLP related occupations that do not require CGFNS certification.

For the Visitors Visa(for parents), can a photocopy of Pay-check's be sufficient. Since the last few pay-rolls, my employer is giving everybody a photocopy of the Pay-check from Pay-chex Inc.To reduce costs of printing and mailing the Pay-checks, My employer is asking Pay-chex Inc to email the Bi-weekly pay-rolls of everybody.
Wondering if the US Embassy in India would create an issue by not bringing the original Pay-stubs.

I have I129 document (Petition for Nonimmigrant worker) which was valid from 10/01/07 to 09/24/2010. However i never used it.
