While everyone else is hung up on the video being flash... I was enjoying Jobs comments about the TV. How I wish Apple could have a hand in moving TV into the future. I got rid of cable 3 years ago and haven't looked back. xbox360 with Netflix streaming and a HD antenna have made me forget about cable. If someone could change how TV is presented on cable I'd be back. My gf still has cable. The only current LIVE show we watch is Breaking Bad. Comcast sucks. Almost every channel breaks up. She has 3 HD AMC channels. WHY? Why not one that doesn't break up on screen. My friends all have the same problem. Overall the idea I have to tune into a TV show at a set time is old.

I am trying to do a battleship game using a 10x10 grid of custom buttons as the game screen.
To do the initial setup for the game I want the user to be able to click on two buttons and use those two buttons as the start and end point for the placement of the ship.
My current issue is that I have no idea how to reference the buttons that lie inbetween the two clicks that will mark the start and end point of the ship placement.
I was wondering if there is a way to reference a button by its tag or object ID without creating a pointer to all 100 of my buttons, or if there was an easy way to create an array of pointers to all 100 of the buttons to make it easy to reference them.
Any ideas would be great as we are stuck at this currently.

My mini has starting constantly doing the pop up where it gives me the option to:
shutdown/restart/ cancel
Do I have a virus on it?
It's starting to behave quite oddly!
thanks for you help.

Thanks for responding to my devil's advocacy. How things tend to work around here is that any ideas like this get batted around out here, perhaps discussed amongst mods and admins... and if they pass muster, then added to the list of things to do. Some of these things can take months or even years to even reappear in some form.
Personally, I'm not sure that this idea will be given much priority, but that's just a hunch based on previous experience as I have no say in this process. Saying that, it would also certainly generate an interesting amount of data for those who like stats and graphs as well.

That's a big shame -- I miss it. :(
The cmd-z just doesn't cut it in this specific circumstance.
Thought it was nifty & found it very useful... maybe Tiger will restore it? (yeah, right)

Not entirely sure on this, but I think you can set the cross fade feature in iTunes to eliminate the gap and then (and here's where I am not sure) those settings are synced to the iPod (maybe?).
in iTunes>prefs>audio there is a crossfade check box. unchecking it will jump directly from one song to the next, cross fade will blend one song into another. i think you want to jump from one song to the next, like the CD, otherwise you will be fading the end of one song with the begining of the next, and the only way that will sound good is if you are the DJ that created the CD and did the crossfading manually (which im sure they did during some part of production) but i really dont know if this effects the playback on the iPod

Just the one for me a MBP 15".
I plan on updating to the latest MBP once every 4 years roughly unless there is a serious upgrade to tempt me in that timeframe.

This sucks I work at Costco and I know for a fact that because Apple gave a exclusive deal to SAMs Costco got mad and when supplies of ALL Apple products run out at Costco there will be NO more! No iPods or iTunes gift cards of any kind. This is Costco's way of playing hard ball with Apple. Each Costco building sold about $200k of Apple products per month!!! That WILL affect Apple! After all Apple should know that Costco will offer FAR better service for iPad sales than Sams! Eventually Apple WILL come around and Costco will begin to sell Apple products again
What kind of "exclusive deal"? And BTW, wouldn't that loss of $200k a month have also have a substantial negative impact for Costco then for Apple? If that number is true we are talking about $100 000 000 per month in declined sales.

It's a niche market for now, and most users don't use it at all. But once peripherals start using TB, it will become more widespread. But peripheral manufacturers won't rush out products until there is a good install base of computers that support TB. For that to happen, Apple will need to support it throughout its product line. Whether that happens this year or by the beginning of 2012 depends on when the products get updated. All new Macs will have TB.
Of course, if it's limited to Macs it will still be a niche market. Unless it's adopted by the PC market, it could become the next FireWire (superior to USB in many respects, but not omnipresent like the latter). In addition to hard drives and monitors, I think we'll soon see TB connectors on scanners, cameras and more.
In terms of bandwidth, the desktop can do better by using other cards in PCIe slots. On the laptops though, it offers more bandwidth than they've had access to previously (eSATA ExpressSlot cards aren't anywhere near as fast as TB is).
TB is convenient for laptops and devices as well, which is expected to help promote adoption for that market (i.e. see single disks on TB, and allow for others to be connected to a single port via Daisy Chaining). And Intel's aimed this at all computer users (even seen a phone advertised with TB), so it's not exclusive to Apple. So I do expect more devices to actually ship within a year or so as adoption increases (need more systems to release that are currently in development, as like you, I do see a bit of a "chicken and egg" situation).

Hi,
For reference, the site I have made is www.systematic-uk.com
I am having a huge problem where I have deployed to a windows server and IE text is displaying irregular characters instead of spaces and punctuation. The about us link is
www.systematic-uk.com/premium.html is the worst example.
Apologies if this has been covered before but your help is very much appreciated.
