    Ok, my prediction:

New nano will have to have a new name, or more than 4gb in the low end, otherwise it will be available as part of the get a free ipod campaign... i don't think apple will do that. Reminds me of a certain SNL skit.

or... mb and mbp will be upgraded to C2D... the rebate clearly lists only core duo systems as eligible. then you won't be able to get any free ipods except with a mac pro

    there you have it

Have anybody seen a benchmark which compares the core 2 duo with the actuall core duo?

I can only see benchmarks between core 2 duo and AMD CPU's and standard dual core Pentium 4 cpu.

    Thanks
    Masoud

Core 2 duo out so far is a desktop chip being compared against other dektop chips. The Core Duo only came as a notebook chip (with one version as a very low power server chip, Sossaman)

    What?:)

This is true I read this a while back and it was brought up today on a d.a.p site i frequent. Creatives TravelDock 900 speakers have an ipod shuffle connected to it on the box.

Kind of an interesting history note of digital audio players made back in 2004.

You guys are just delusional at this point.

MBP C2D IS going to happen. sometime between now and (for example) a year from now. saying "there is no way they will get announced on the 24th becuase its a photo event" is quite simply ignorant. it most certainly MAY happn, and the other machines that were released at the last photo event as mentioned above proove there is even a precident for it happening. i personally think its seems reasonably likely it will happen on the 24th, tho i would not bet on it.

edit: removal of an uneccesary comment

All I've seen is one paragraph claiming that. Until someone shows data from when location services was turned off it's hard to run with it.

Applogist? Jesus, that's such a sad bastardization of words. I'm trying to apply reasoning to this and have people understand that they've likely agreed to something because they don't read the ToS or SLA.

I'm sorry it was harsh to call you and appologist. From your posting you're not like the typical robot running around here.

Mine has always been off. When I get home I'll try the program and will have first had knowledge of if it does or doesn't track with it switched off.

I bet Apple pulls them. RIM already did. Companies far too often cave to the illogical or crazies rather than standing up for what is logical and right.

Why is it logical and right?

Again, if 150,000 regular people who didn't want criminals avoiding checkpoints (fugitives, revoked licenses, drug dealers, see above) complained would you say Apple should keep it?

That's why Apple pulled the anti-gay app. So if tomorrow MADD made a petition it would be justifiable to remove it?

I think the building consensus is that PC gaming is wearing. Intel's graphic chip shouldn't detour many with the much improved CPU to boot. I'm totally happy I skipped the 2010 refresh.

PC gaming corners you into a constant cycle of bleeding your checking account dry; console gaming is infinitely more cost-effective. Once you start to appreciate this dynamic, you'll find yourself upgrading all your toys a lot less often and having money to take vacations and such :)

Malware includes computer viruses, worms, trojan horses, spyware and other malicious and unwanted software or programs. The idea that OSX and/or Unix/Linux based operating systems is free from such threats is absurd.

No one has presented the idea that Mac OS X is free from all malware threats. Since your reading comprehension might need some help, I'll repeat my statement again:
there is no Mac malware in the wild that can't be avoided with some common sense and prudent action on the part of the user.
Viruses for Mac OS X don't exist, so antivirus isn't needed to protect against them.
Trojans for Mac OS X do exist, but can be avoided by the user being careful what they install, so antivirus isn't needed to protect against them.

Meanwhile, the answer on here to avoiding potential pitfalls in things like Flash is to (surprise), not install or use it. Hey guys, don't power on your computers and you will always be safe!
I use Flash all the time and have never had any issues with it.

Even Apple themselves regularly release security updates. WTF is the point of a security update if there's no possible threat to OSX?
Again, no one has said there are not threats to Mac OS X; only that those threats don't require any AV software to defend against them.
Just because a threat is less likely than on other systems does not mean that it does not exist. Yet people on here won't even admit that much.
Either you're not reading or not comprehending the posts that have been made. No one is saying that NO threats exist; only that those threats can be avoided by the user without the need for AV software.

Only a fanboy would take a post that suggests that a false sense of security can lead to dangerous behavior that might be a liability in the future (good advice in almost any market/situation) and twist it into "Boy you're ignorant; we are INVULNERABLE! OSX cannot be hacked or attacked! It's impossible!
Who are you referring to? I haven't seen anyone say such things in this thread or any other.
    "fanboy"
Again, who are you referring to? I'm not a fanboy, or a boy of any kind. I have no allegiance or loyalty to any brand or manufacturer (except Harley-Davidson, but for very different reasons). It's amusing to see how people try to bash Apple or Macs for the wrong reasons, then resort to calling people "fanboys" when their arguments aren't accepted. Apple and Macs have plenty of weaknesses. Attack one of the legitimate ones and you'll have sensible people agree with you. Make a case against Apple or John Deere or Mattel or Coca-Cola or any other company that isn't based in fact, and you'll get resistance. That doesn't make those who oppose such a case "fanboys".

Very, Very cool move to allow a swap for the track pad instead of the magic mouse. +1 Apple.

The magic mouse is a total POS IMHO.

Well if they were already make some accessories for the ipod they might actually be tempted to make one or two products sound cards for apple. What I would love to see is Creative licensing their X-FI audo tech to apple to put in the ipod. I have been hearing nothing but good things about X-Fi.

Can't wait!! I see the next Big Thing.:)

why would you tether to ur phone if u have an iphone?

I don't have an iPhone. I have an Android phone (out of necessity), and syncing is so f'd up that I never do it. So I use the Android phone for phone calls, tethering, and Internet away from Wifi, and my iPod Touch for everything else.

But I refuse to tether my iPod to my phone just so Apple can leave out the two 4GB chips and make the iPod even thinner.

ah yes. just like they did with the eMac back in the day. that was popular... you know, not having a product to ship for weeks.

Well, assuming they announced and shipped about the same time as the PC companies, there's really not that much to complain about. Don't forget, they did it with the MPB as well.

And if people are really unwilling to wait a couple weeks, nothing is stopping them from buying the yonah models.

I've seen some posts about transferring "that much data" in disbelief. I calculate that a two hour movie will no more about 450MB. I hope it is, of course. This is based on a 1-hr episode of Lost is about 200MB. I fudge in 50MB for the fact that each Lost episode never is EXACTLY 1 hour.

I can transfer that size (450MB) from my ReplayTV wirelessly to my PowerBook in less than a half hour with my Airport Extreme Basestation.

So... I see no problem. Perhaps the show will be delayed a little but not more than a few minutes

Lost runs about 42 minutes, so more like 600 meg. And you're assuming they'll ship movies at 320x240, which I doubt. If they up the quality to anything approaching DVD, file sizes will go way up. But I still think a well implemented wireless solution should be able to keep up, people are doing it already.

I believe this media player will simply be a better iPod with better integration to your television, via possibly a nice dock. It makes sense, it's keeps the iPod in the forefront which would enable the market to grow because most will buy it for the music, but seeing it can attach to the t.v... :)

I don't see why everybody mad at Apple, Samsung's products do look like iPhone, iPad rip-offs. They look very identical so I can understand why Apple is doing it. Force these other companies to be more creative. I don't know how many times I've seen my friends walk around with other devices such as these and the question they get asked the most is "is that an iPhone?", "can I see it?".

couldn't apple develop something into itunes that lets you watch while it is downloading? is this possible?

    It already works that way:

    http://www.apple.com/itunes/store/movies.html

Shop the iTunes Store for hot new releases such as Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, and download them for $12.99 the week theyre released on DVD. Or buy Disney library titles for $9.99 to $14.99. All your favorites are here: The Princess Diaries, The Incredibles, Cinderella, Toy Story, The Rock, The Rookie, and more. Search for movies just as you would for music, and watch a free trailer before you download. Or, if you cant wait for the next blockbuster to hit shelves, feel free to pre-order upcoming releases. iTunes will let you know the minute theyre ready to download. Cant wait to start the show? You can even watch your movie as it downloads.

this is great:) were going to be able to control front row with our new touch screen ipods. apple has kept this "close to the chest" because it involves leapord, core animation and the new front row. they even showed it to us when demoing core animation. they had all the data for the floating songs right there while they were just raining down in the background. think about it you could see a what you streamed to the tv on the ipod and touch albums or dvd covers floating in the library. :D hope bluetooth is enough for that seems the movie dongle transef speeds are going to be fast. hope they do release a mac mini tubeport package too.
