Sorry to crash the party, but it would seem a little strange for Apple to upgrade the MacBook and/or MB Pro's until sometime after the 16th when their current college promotion ends. Promotion = clearing out old stock (of notebooks & iPods).

Hello Mr. Condescending, and glad you could join us.
There are arguments agreeing with you and those that disagree with you for equally good reasons. It's been all over these boards for the last several weeks, so you're not telling anyone anything they haven't thought, said, heard, or argued for or against. While I can definitely see both sides to this worn debate, in all honestly, I have no idea when Apple will release the C2D systems. And neither do you (or do you? :o )
But hey! That's why were here. To speculate, argue, and spread wild rumors based on tiny grains of truth.

I've had serious plans for starting to develop software for the iPhone, as an experienced software developer. I've considered buying the latest iMac version for improved performance and a bigger screen than on my 13" MacBook. But I've changed my mind. Why develop for a platform with a defect application approval process? I don't want all that frustration. I'll probably develop for the Android instead. The iPhone is still the best platform but Apple sucks. Period.

I'm a pretty serious Apple fanatic and I'm willing to scrap my family's iPhones because of this. I know the government can track me anyway by watching my movement across cell towers, but this is a huge affront to privacy.
If you tie this story to the recent news from Michigan that cops there are able to suck the data off of your phone at a traffic stop, then this is really frightening.

If Apple can show a version of Aperture which will run smoothly on a Mac Pro, then my two grand is practically theirs already...
An iCamera (CameraPro?) of some kind would be nice, though highly unlikely.

Some of us don't have time to wait, my friend. Some of us need these things for school, which starts shortly. Very shortly. And a customized MacBook already takes 1-2 weeks to get to you. Which means I need to order by september 5th at the latest.
So order it.
I was talking about people who buy a machine and immediately consider returning it.

I think that the phone interface won't have a click-wheel. Rather, it will be all screen with an on-screen wheel changing to an on-screen keypad. No slider action whatsoever. Maybe a hard switch for on/off, answer, and phonebook, but that's about all I'd put on the phone. It'll save on cost and hardware complexity too, not having to include a wheel.
That's what the recent Apple patents lead me to believe. Hopefully this iPod nano with the slide out keyboard is just an early concept. A very early concept.

The simple fact is that I should not have to obey a 70mph speed limit if I don't want to. Why would I even bother driving a car that can hit 186mph (with the speed governor removed, with the governor top speed is 155mph) at 70 mph? A Ford Fiesta can hit those speeds, what's the point of fast cars if you're going to follow the speed limit in them?
Really?
Seriously...I mean really???

Not in MacBook nor MacBook Pros because they have no socket. You can only upgrade mini and iMac with Merom because only they both have compatible sockets.
I'm pretty sure the guy doesn't deserve to be shot down.
It seems to me that by "MB" he did not bean "MacBook" as is the most common use of these two letters, but "Mother Board" which makes perfect sense, covers all Yonah macs and is perfectly true. Disregarding the soldering issue of the 'books, which is a different point.

If you cannot "argue" based on all the evidence but just conveniently ignore anything that does not support your argument while attacking with anything that does and then pretending everyone else doesn't exist you've then proven you are not worth conversing with and thus my lack of replies to you.
Are you talking to yourself? You've consistently argued that Mac users are complacent and need to "protect" themselves, presumably by using AV software. We've consistently pointed out that AV software offers no advantage to Mac users, to which you resort to the same tired tactic used by shills for the AV industry since OS X was first introduced: you claim that the sky will fall soon and we'll be sorry.
Let's take a look at what you need to ignore to do that:

Very interesting and they are just down the road in Sunnyvale.. makes one wonder??

I love my unibody. So I may have to stock up before the change. Ha ha. :D
My first thought tho was carbon fiber. Seems like there were some rumors about that. But I'm sure the aluminum body helps in cooling. So I wonder how CF would work. Perhaps a hybrid config.

Is there any chance that they'll release the MBPs here?
Haha, they're probably going to release 16:9 touchscreen iPods and be like:
"You really thought all we were doing to the iPod was adding 20GB? YOU GOT PUNK'D!!"

Weird. Could have sworn I responded to this.
Anyway, this strikes me as unbelievably cynical. I doubt Apple's advertising is usually below 10% of the revenue of the iPods, yet they're giving $10 (5%) of revenues to a charity in exchange for a feel-good factor and marketing from Bono.
I'm all for AIDS prevention, but there's not a single aspect of this story that doesn't strike me as crass and exploitative.

I'm actually surprised this doesn't happen more often. Applestores must be filled with cash. I would think one would be a bit easier to rob than a bank.

New version of Aperture!.. Saweeet
or more likely a new Apple iSLR
16 Megapixels
full frame sensor
Adaptive lens mount supports all Canon and Nikon Lenses
60gb removeable 1.8" hard drive
3" OLED screen
...
And all for a low, low price of $599.

Why do they always use the smaller sized iPods for the special editions?
I wanted the U2 iPod, but it was not the 60 gig.
I would like a red iPod, but want the 8 gig!
USE THE BEST MODEL... ESPECIALLY SINCE ITS GOING TO CHARITY!!!!!!!
I think its probably an issue of volume. The smaller sizes sell more. Just a guess, I don't have actual numbers.

I don't know. I think the latest MBP was rushed to market a bit. I think Apple just wanted to get to intel and really ddn't think about design.
The current PB look has been around since 2001. I think the alumin look is starting to look soooo 2000. Were heading toward time to move on with a new chip and a new look.
Personally I prefer plastic to metal. Metal shows way too many scratches, finger prints, smudges, etc. The smooth shiny plastic look is much better and it is more durable. The metal enclosures dent, bend and break. They also transmit the heat faster to your lap and interfere with BT and Airport. The plastic enclosures give and spring back like new.
Gun Metal ABS plastic with rounded smooth corners, new keyboard, quick access ram, HD, and battery, magnetic latch, sound like the future to me.:D
New keyboard? Like the MBs? Why would you want that (not trying to say thats dumb, i'm just curious to why you would want that over the current)
