Today, Irrational Games finally revealed the secret project they've been working on for the last 3 years. It looks quite amazing. The game takes place in 1912, in the flying city of Columbia. You play the part of Booker DeWitt, who is trying to rescue a woman named Elizabeth. The trailer is available on the teaser site, and it looks really interesting. I'm very excited for this one.

2K Games and Irrational Games Announce BioShock(R) Infinite
Creators of original BioShock(R) look to the sky in the next chapter of the award-winning franchise
2K Games announced today that BioShock(R) Infinite, a first-person shooter, is currently in development at Irrational Games, the studio behind the original BioShock(R) which has sold over 4 million units worldwide. Set in 1912, BioShock Infinite introduces an entirely new narrative experience that lifts players out of the familiar confines of Rapture and rockets them to Columbia, an immense city in the sky. BioShock Infinite is currently planned for release during calendar 2012.
Originally conceived as a floating symbol of American ideals at a time when the United States was emerging as a world power, Columbia is dispatched to distant shores with great fanfare by a captivated public. What begins as a brand new endeavor of hope turns drastically wrong as the city soon disappears into the clouds to whereabouts unknown.
The player assumes the role of former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt, sent to the lost city to rescue Elizabeth, a young woman imprisoned there since childhood. He develops a relationship with Elizabeth, augmenting his abilities with hers so the pair may escape from a city that is literally falling from the sky. DeWitt must learn to fight foes in high-speed Sky-Line battles, engage in combat both indoors and amongst the clouds, and harness the power of dozens of new weapons and abilities.
“We are excited to expand the world of BioShock, which is one of the industry’s most critically acclaimed and beloved franchises,” said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. “We believe that Irrational Games will lend their meticulous attention to detail and unique storytelling expertise to make BioShock Infinite an incredible entertainment experience that will immerse new and diehard fans of BioShock alike.”
With the original BioShock, Irrational Games won “Game of the Year” awards from Game Informer, IGN, G4’s X-Play, and BAFTA and redefined what players expect from a first-person shooter. “But when it came to begin work on BioShock Infinite,” said Ken Levine, creative director of Irrational Games, “we only had one rule: No sacred cows. This game is both true to what people love about the series and unafraid to question every assumption.”
Levine continued, “In order to explore the floating city of Columbia, we needed an entirely new engine. To bring Elizabeth to life, we had to build brand-new animation and AI systems. To create wide-ranging indoor and outdoor firefights at 30,000 feet, we had to rethink, rebuild and expand the BioShock arsenal. The only thing gamers can be certain of is this: the rules of the BioShock universe are about to change.”
BioShock Infinite is in development for the Xbox 360(R) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation(R)3 computer entertainment system and Games for Windows(R), and is not yet rated by the ESRB.

Hi Guys,
I just tried to update my boince client, haven't done it for ages, but it seems I can't.
The new client just says it can't open the daemon and hangs.
I have tried numerous installs, uninstalls and have spec a lot of time running the ma secure and ma insecure scripts.
Frankly I'm out of my depth.
Can anyone advise me how to get boinc up and running again.
Many thanks

Our family just started using Skype some time last November, so we are able to talk frequently with our daughter who is Stateside attending a university. Since mid November, I believe Skype has released some 4 updates. The audio is crystal clear on Cable. They're (forces behind it) Open Source type of folk and that's my lingo.

I cannot get my contacts into Itunes/Ipod. I exported them via palm tx as a vcard to the outlook folder that was empty. Then when I go to outllook 2010 I look under the address and there is nothing there. So I need step by step baby instructions (LOL) on how to get them into outlook then into Itunes and then into my Ipod touch. I hope someone can help me! Thanks Jerry
It sounds like either the vcard is dodgy, or outlook is.
Try opening the vcard in to Windows Address Book, once they're 'imported', you can go to iTunes > your ipod> Info (the tab at the top, might be called something else, you'll find it) > then check sync 'all contacts' > sync.

I've always wondered why Apple doesn't use cdkeys for their OS. Not that I'm complaining, just curious is all.
It's reasonably difficult to install the OS on a non-Apple computer. So it's sort of a marketing strategy that keeps you roped in. And if you get a pirated/shared version of the OS that doesn't work on your old hardware, you're tendency is to go buy the new machine when the new software won't work with the old one.

I've got a couple of G4 1gz DP Xserves, complete and in great condition. What are you looking to spend? :)
I'm looking to get them for as cheep as someone is willing to sell them for. :P As of right now, I would probably need to get more money in order to actually BUY something, I just wanna see what price someone would be willing to sell theirs for.
EDIT: Also, do they have a graphics card in them? One with a VGA output is preferred

If I read Apple's Sales and Refunds (http://store.apple.com/Catalog/US/Images/salespolicies.html) policy, the only words that sound remotely close to this are those that discuss the ten business day window for returns due to "[dissatisfaction] with your Apple purchase of a pre-built product".
Can anyone comment on this?
anyone who says you have thirty days after a purchase to exchange it for an upgrade is lying to you. These are things you need to know
1. If u buy a product , the ten day thing is true but you may face restocking fees or you may just get some money back because of the update... I have seen very few threads about people trading opened products for brand new models
2. Don't expect for this to be easy, your gonna have to play hardball to get anything from apple when you've already bought a product.
3. Some users have suggested that sites like amazon.com have a 30-day return policy but i'm not sure what fees are associated with this.
I've posted this before and i'll post it again. The bottom line is that you cannot count on the return policy as a safety net...theres not really a way to completely protec t yourself

Apparently using iPads and such at Apple stores carries a high risk of being infected with some sort of virus.
I guess it kind of makes sense, maybe they should clean them daily?
I refuse to touch anything in the apple store. I never pick up any demo units, people are disgusting and don't wash there hands.

My Aunt and Uncle live just up the road from the Chermside store so every time I'm in Brisbane I visit the Chermside store, but I would defiantly catch a bus into the CBD to see this new Apple Store. I think it's cool the way Apple is using old pre war buildings around the world as their flagship stores.

How can I have an avatar?Unless we have another avatar contest and you win the contest, you won't be eligible for an avatar until you have 500 or more posts. At your post rate, that will take you almost exactly one year. But you can put a photo in your User Profile any time you like.
Edit: I see that you do have one. Is that you in the photo?

It works, and it is just usable (on a fast system), but it is not a complicated app to write at all - basically just a nice RealBasic frontend to qemu. Amazingly, despite qemu's shockingness on x86/x86 virtualisation, its PPC emulation is quite good?? Don't know what happened there ;)

No one really knows for sure, but the timeframe for an update is relatively narrow. If you go by the 6-month update rule, the iBook would get its update in November.
The latest we're likely to see an update (and rumours have suggested it to be more likely) is at MacWorld San Francisco, in early January. If this is what happens, it's very likely that the next iBook model will be a substantial redesign, and not just a speed-bump. Among some of the more interesting rumours have been that there would be a 13" screen in the current 12" case size, that the lineup will move to G4s like the iMac did, and (the most fanciful of them all) we'll see the current 14" iBook replaced with a 14" widescreen model.
No matter what happens, hold on to your money if you want to get the most out of a new iBook; the iBook 700 we have now is great, but it could be the end of its generation.

I've decided to test "My Living Desktop" in the second Lion's preview and, for my surprise, it is running. But when I try to register it says that I can register only as Administrator ( well, I am the administrator...at least I think I am... :) ). The pop up says that I have to log off and log on as administrator...How can I do that?...I mean How can I install a software that says that I can run it only if I am the administrator?...:D
I'd run a bug report on that, doesn't sound like it's actually working..

edit: it appears to be the reed switch tha tI need to trigger, and it's in the trackpad. Only problem is that my trackpad that I yanked off the enclosure appears to be broken. So target disk mode is the only answer.
update: also, can I use this program if I don't have the pram battery board connected?
