Our troop casualties are staggering (nearly 32,000 injured in Iraq in addition to the 4,000 dead and over 10,000 injured along with 1,500 dead in Afghanistan).
Sorry to be the insensitive bastard, but 32k injured is hardly staggering. This isn't even comparable to a real war-time situation; 4k dead soldiers is but a drop in the bucket relative to past wars, declared or otherwise.
Again, if you want to solve the security problem, excess scanners is not the answer; profiling is. It's not that hard.

The fact that guns are so prevalent in America makes it more likely that any one of us will find ourselves on the wrong end of one.

Competition for itunes would not be a bad thing but those record companies are just too greedy!
They also know that they have been completely taken by Apple in an almost comical way.
This is the main reason the TV/Movie industry has been so leary of Apple. It's not simply greed. They don't know how to negotiate at Apple's level.
When Apple releases their new HD TV the networks will have complete control on pricing with Apple getting it's cut. Apple will provide a complete hardware delivery system for them that operates seamlessly with a click, and has a magical (could not resist) effect on the end user.
No needing to try all this crap streaming through Amazon and such BS. Could even give Netflix a run.
It's the logical next step, and Steve has already laid out the vision. :apple:

So why not just use an external HD?
because this can die easily. should we buy 5 external hd's to backup the backup disk of the backup disk? no. 3 or 4 hd's i owned died since the last 10 years or so. i think it's too risky.

Ohhh, nice. 922s are nice for medium sized builds...
yeah it was on sale, so i went ahead and got it. i'm on a budget these days. but still an upgrade from my previous case.
so i got it on, and the cooler as well. so far not that great. running at 3.7 ghz, the temps are in the low 80's C. not good. we'll see how it goes

we looked into it, our a/cs chew 30w each WHEN THEY ARE TURNED OFF! its insane. we now turn them off at the power box.
yeah well the guy added some freon to it, so hopefully it will work better now. he also put some dye in there to check for leaks

And it's not a doomsday proposition or anything. That's just where the entire industry will go.
15 years from now? By then the tech world will be so unrecognizable we might as well not debate it. 15 years ago I was using a Mac LC, all my software came from the local mac reseller on floppy disk, and I was just beginning to hear about this whole "Internet" thing. I don't think anybody at the time imagined things turning out quite as they did. Even predicting things 5 years down the line is pretty damned hard in the tech world.
Which is to say, you may very well be right when we talk about 15 years from now. On the other hand, perhaps 15 years from now the whole notion of an app store will seem like a quaint remnant of the past.

I certainly hope that Apple doesn't develop a video iPod using the same materials that they continue to use on the 5G iPod.
How Apple can put out a video product that scratches with even the gentlest handling is beyond me. I have not yet bought a 5G iPod because I don't want to shell out $350 bucks for something that scratches so easily.
With the release of the latest Nano in aluminum I can see that Apple is aware of the problem. But they failed to upgrade the plastic on the 80GB iPod. The 4G iPod and earlier didn't have this scratch prone problem.
I would hate to see them pass on this faulty scratch magnet material to any new iPod models.
Apple, please get off the dime and fix this very annoying problem.

I could DEFINITELY see them doing this. It could also be for an iPhone or iTablet.
iTablet I doubt that. That would most likely use an intel chip. iPhone, I think that would be TI chips in there(after all TI makes half the worlds cell phone chips). If you want to see the capabilities of the AMD Alchemy chip just check out the iStaion V43 and T43. This a great 4.3in portable multimedia player than can do GPS, DMBTV, and wifi.

The additions while you deride them are welcome, and yes, in many instances they did copy OSX.
Also though they're adding more functionality, more then what you can say about apple and Lion. What is its major feature - making it more like an iPad :confused:
Microsoft leap frogged apple with windows 7, it has more functionality, better ui and is faster. Aero Peek for instance is one awesome feature.

Really VictoriaStudent, lol I agree with BForstal on what people would do in the same situation 100 percent, and I'm not trying to brag about anything, and I cant even believe this thread has reached 3 pages. Sec I have no reason to troll!!! I have been a member of this forum since and even though I have never really posted anything I have found wealth of knowledge over the years from people in these forums. Wow and you cannot judge a person's character by a mistake a cashier made in a store!!! Like I said everybody is entitled to there own opinion, If you were to make note of the mistake to the store if it happened to you and it makes you feel so highly above any one else, more power to you. As for the Karma, I found a iPhone 4 at Macy's 2-days before shopping with my girlfriend, and I didn't think twice about not turning it in. I made this woman's day when she got it back. So I figured hey, maybe that was a little something I got for doing something honest a few days before

I really don't think so It will be a margin building exercise, PC World (or Dixons/Currys/Whatever) did it on the last iPad, they will shrink wrap them up in higher margin products and tell people those are the only bundles they have in stock at the moment. If they are making very little margin and selling lots it will bring down the gross margin for the stores. Its just simple margin building.

That one thing that I don't see is Google sponsored Android commercials... they are not promoting their own product like MS did with Windows and are leaving each hardware manufacturer to make up their own image. All of this gives the average consumer a confusing, scattered message of the Android OS.

This gets shot down hard any time it gets mentioned around here, but I can certainly see this as a possibility. One thing Google is famous for is starting something only to abandon it once they decide to focus in other areas. And Chrome is at the heart of their corporate mission -- getting people to stay online in the cloud where they can be monetized. Android also gets the ad revenue, so it might indeed stick around for practical reasons, but the app model is the very model Google hates for it gets people offline and perhaps using some service other than what Google provides. With Chrome, Google would have full control. With Android it's a free-for-all.
