What percentage of iPhone users are on Verizon (world wide)? Serious question, because I don't see how Verizon getting the iPhone 4 has anything to do with an iPhone 5 release date. I really doubt 4g will be coming with the next iPhone. Everyone seems to think Verizon and its customers have some sort of power over apple. Wasn't an issue for the rest of the world and all the carriers and customers that got iPhones mid-cycle between the 3GS and 4.

That release could easily have been guided through strategic corporate planning... for LTE... for Verizon... for market saturation & adoption... there are a lot of variables to think about.

I'm not trying to be picky, but I thought you might be interested to know that the death penalty was suspended in 1965, abolished for murder in 1969 and abolished totally in 1998. However, the last execution was in 1964.
Not sure where you got that from, I think you may be projecting? Did you know every Parliament from 1965 to 1997 had a free vote on capital punishment and always voted against it? If there was a public referendum I think it would be pretty close. However, the UK can't reintroduce the death penalty without withdrawing from the EU and the Human Rights Convention, so no Government would risk a vote on something that isn't a massive public issue.

Wowee!! Congratulations!! :p And yeah, other people may have gotten all sorts of gadgets, but no iPad is gonna top a lifelong partner (99 times out of 100 at least :o)
Hahaha, you right, and thanks! My mom got an iPad from my dad, so I get to play with it here and there. Pretty nifty, but I don't know if I would ever drops the money on a big iPhone. :p

Hi. Thanks. I think your right. The solution may be for me to send the "hourly" thing the way of the dodo. Set prices will help protect me from chiselers who claim they can only afford so many hours.
I don't think that's necessarily what he meant -- only that you should raise your hourly rate.
It's up to you whether you charge by set prices or by hourly rates, but you do need to be able to accurately estimate the work involved -- if you underestimate the work and price according to that, then you're stuck in the same boat.
Perhaps a combination of approaches. A website, for example, might start at $500, which includes 2 hours of client consultation and 10 hours of work, and two hours of after-sales support work. Additional hours beyond this are charged at $40/hour. I made up those numbers from thin air, but you get the idea.
That way you're covered in both directions. A piddly little site doesn't yield piddly little money, and the big complex clients get to pay accordingly too.

You seem to be contradicting yourself here... You say you hate notes.. But suggest it's "equally" as crappy as Exchange.. Then you admit that the CAL's are actually cheaper then Exchange... From your reasoning it would seem that makes notes better by itself. Your listed items are meaningless so I won't address them..
Some advantages to Notes....
the server runs on many platforms (Windows, Linux. iSeries, etc...)
The client runs on many platforms (windows, linux, mac) or you can just use a browser...
REPLICATION... Say it again. REPLICATION.. What does this mean? You can replicate a database to other servers or desktops/laptops. That's really nice to have if something happens to your hardware... It's not clustering - Notes has that too... So the same database can be on many servers if need be or you can take it locally and work with it off-line.. I don't know a microsoft technology that would let someone take a CRM application on the road.. make updates to the data while off line and put it back on the server later.. And it doesn't matter if it's one person or 100 people doing this. Maybe Sharepoint can kinda do this now - I truly don't know - But notes has been doing this for over 15 years... Not bad..
That's just a couple advantages..

It's nice getting new versions of the server on a regular basis that actually improve performance on existing hardware. What's Microsoft do? force Exchange users to 64 bit servers....
It takes us longer to download a server update then it does to install it.
I agree that Domino holds many advantages over MS. My complaints are mostly regarding the Notes user interface. It's crap, plain and simple, even on the MS platform. It's just really flakey. Not a day goes by when Notes doesn't crash on at least one of the desktops I'm working on, Mac or PC. it's just really annoying to work with.

My idea of discussion is rational reasoning, not bloodthirsty appeals to emotion or polls proving one is in "good company".

Despite the birth rate in the UK being around 2 (1.96 if I remember correctly) there are, sadly, plenty of children/babies in need of a good home. Recently, the law was changed to ensure homosexuals would be able to adopted children if they want. Lesbian couples could also ask for a donor, and gay couples for a surrogate.
We need to move beyond the idea that marriage is about a man and a women reproducing. Firstly, it isn't about that. Secondly, there is no reason same-sex couples can't raise just as many children as heterosexual couples.

Jobs (and most of us here) are missing the point. It's not about getting a release window for the next iteration of FCP, it's about running a business and the need to plan according to a supplier's roadmap. This is one area where Apple totally blows: without awareness of basic features, likely timelines, and a clear product commitment, it's nerve wracking and borderline irresponsible to use Apple products in the backbone of any business.
Cue the apologists, but I've been in the driver's seat on this and for serious professionals it is an abuse that Apple should stop. If a product is claimed to be for professional use, then give the professionals the information they need to plan and run their business. If you don't get why this matters, I'm going to guess you've never run a business where you had the responsibility for people's livelihood on your shoulders.
Cue the apologists, but I've been in the driver's seat on this and for serious professionals it is an abuse that Apple should stop. If a product is claimed to be for professional use, then give the professionals the information they need to plan and run their business. There are a number of att customers who find the service mediocre at best, but are willing to put up with it, verizon may be better. Still others didn't know att would be that bad but where stuck into contracts, and it worked well enough to justify waiting and not paying the termination fee. Furthermore, there are plenty of people who have no problems with att, but media hype and aggressive advertising has convinced them they do have a problem, so they will switch. I'm sticking with ATT, it has worked great for years and years for me.
