What about using the magic trackpad to "slide" the selection? Perhaps engaging "Tap to Click" then sliding the bar with the trackpad.
My Magic Trackpad was collecting dust until the release of Lion DP's. OS X 10.7 is definitely making more use of the multi-touch features of the track pad.

The slow pace of messages here shows that this has gone from being important to the masses and the trolls to now be a small problem. Previous threads (those from before the videos and pressconference) added three pages in the time it took to read one, there was just no way to keep up with them. This has still not gotten much over 50.
It is interesting, but few considers the new iPhone to be broken anymore. No matter what you think of how Jobs handled it, he completely defused a situation that was becoming very hostile. I'm sure this will be taught and dissected at universities for years just as Intels poor handling of PR with the "faulty" processors is taught as the difference between dealing with companies and customers. This was a lesson for all and many key bloggers have already written pieces of how he changed the usual dynamics of apologizing for any perceived issue.

The way 5p talks is the reason so many middle- and lower-class people (who are watching all of their livelihoods disappear) still side with the GOP. His words are carefully selected, and phrases carefully crafted, to make people feel that if they give up more, they will end up receiving more benefit. They eat that crap up and choose these people, only to watch more get taken away. It's been working for years, while things are only getting worse for them. Then they are told to "stay the course" because these policies will help them in the long run. Meanwhile, those at the top keep getting more and more, and those at the bottom get less and less. But "stay the course" and you will benefit, we promise you.

Who do these random things get thrown onto bills that have absolutely no relation whatsoever to the issue at hand? Is it because the writers of these bills know that their scaremongering tactics won't work on that piece of drivel, so they try to hide it inside something else? Do they think that people are really too stupid to see that? They put it in something that's more likely to get passed so that it appears there is actually support for it. It's sad really. I feel bad for these people.

I agree that as priced that the majority of people getting this car would lease it. Keep in mind though that if you have a daily commute of less than 40 miles, you'll seldom need to purchase gasoline, so compared to a regular car or even a Prius, those savings will add up faster.
Either way, at this point this car seems to be at an early-adopter stage where you would expect to be paying a premium until it becomes more of a commodity or there's more competitors in the space. Kinda like how a 5gb iPod used to cost $400. ;)

Actually, I believe it wasn't released at MacWorld for two reasons...
1) Time. They keynote ran about 2 hours as is (already above the average). Introducing two new software suites would easily add another 45 minutes (making the event much too long).
2) The focus was clearly the iPhone, and Jobs didn't want anything to steal its glory.
It makes much more sense to introduce the iPhone at MacWorld and have a separate event for Leopard, iLife, and iWork.

Apple are selling iPhones as fast as they can make them.
Aside from a tiny minority on the internet, the avg. joe is out there enjoying and using their new iPhone. If it was a big issue as the media portrayed it, Apple wouldn't be selling a single unit.

I'm not really sure how to respond if you don't know what the issues are. My main point was the videos are dishonest and Apple has damaged themselves with their response. You disagree?
I agree it is a great phone and that everyone loves it as long as they have good coverage. I don't have the new one, but I have marginal AT&T coverage with my current iPhone. If I had just spent over $2,200 (phone + plan) and lost calls, I would not be happy. I think the response to give away the bumpers and reminding people that they can return them was a good, concrete response so far, but these propaganda videos are laughable and may come back to bite them.
No issue? It was being demonstrated that in marginal signal areas you could have 5 bars and then lose a call if your finger was in the wrong place. Apple immediately realized how bad that was for their brand released a patch that dramatically alters the signal bar on the phone, making them more accurate. They have 18 PhD's working on the antenna technology and they were "shocked"? Please. They knew exactly how their previous calculation distorted reality.
This issue brought it to the forefront. I have seen claims that many phone makers do the same thing, but how come my AT&T Blackberry Bold from work gets 2-3 bars at my house, but the iPhone gets 5? Apple knew it was enough of an issue to call a major press conference, where they discussed and obfuscated the issues.
Most people would use a case anyway, negating the issue for them, but that isn't the point.

You guys with AAPL, hang on to it... I wish I still had mine, but I cashed out last year. 1525 shares paid off my Buell, cards and a house so I'm not grumbling. Only suck part was 75% of the sale price was profit(long term) and CapGains ate my lunch. IRS and State got an extra $14k last April. Ouch.

It's been reproduced by CNET, Consumer Reports, NYT, and many others.
The debate here is not whether there's a problem, but why Apple is obfuscating, rather than fixing it, pretending that bridging the gap of their electrically exposed antenna is equivalent to attenuating an antenna by completely covering it with one's meaty hand.
(seems like moving this gap to the bottom edge of the phone where it's far less likely to be touched, would be an easy fix).

Who said there couldn't be custom software? You'll simply need a developer package. Students might get a special 'exception' area on the App store or private access or whatever, but it doesn't mean they won't start closing down the system at some point. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon....
They've been driving away the professional market for a few years now by releasing consumer gear labeled as "Pro", ignoring pro features on previously true pro hardware and not updating their professional software and taking too long for updates on the Mac Pro. Then there's using non-standard connections (oh yeah; Mini-Display Port is supposed to be a standard now even though hardly anything supports it), dumping professional video cards for the Mac Pro (this alone kills the platform for some). So based on their 'who cares' attitude towards the professional market, what makes you think they'd care about whether some students didn't like the new system? They're already convinced they would LOVE it based on iPhone/iPad sales. A little inter-connection accommodation and what does it matter if most consumer software has to be App store installed as long as 'developers' have some flexibility? Pony up a nice developer fee and Apple makes even MORE money from all those college students and teachers.
Again, I'm not saying it will happen that way, only that it's looking to be a stronger and stronger possibility the more steps I see from Apple. They seem to be heading in that direction. The only question is whether they will close down the 'open' interface to OSX at some point and that's a big 'maybe' in my book.
