i've a feeling that there's some wierd law that i heard of that all films being launched europe wide had to be launched simultanously in all languages. not sure if that's true or not but that might affect european films coming through (sorry bout the spelling, me no like words :) )

Resizing only means having to rewrite apps if the screen resolution changes -- especially if it changes by something other than a whole-number multiple (e.g. 1.5x versus 2x). All rumors indicate a 3.7-inch screen iPhone would have the same Retina-Display resolution (still maintaining over 300dpi).
Technically their "Retina-Display" stuff is based also on typical viewing distance as well -- so a "Retina Display" iPad, iMac, or MacBook (assuming those are in the works) may not go as high as 300dpi. However, a Retina-Display iPad would like require the same pixel-doubling (2x) that was done for apps not optimized for the Retina Display until updates came that included higher-resolution graphics.
But will they stop calling it a retina display then? Because the dpi will drop with screen size increase :D

The Apple Cinema Displays are expensive, but these are high-end professional grade LCDs. If you're going to be using them only to surf the web and watch TV then your money is wasted -- go and get a cheap Dell instead.
I know what I'll get when I'm looking for an LCD for my graphics work.

We use EIZO and Apple Cinema Display LCDs at work (we do web and print design and photography/digital imaging), and they are worth every dollar. We would not settle for anything less.
So in conclusion: for gaming and general web surfing, get a cheap consumer LCD. For serious graphics work, design and digital imaging, get a high-end LCD from trusted makers such as Apple, LaCie or EIZO.

What I meant is that a competitor, that might stick around, would be a good thing for iTunes store users in terms of both pricing & usability.
I can't really agree with this. The last thing I want is a bunch of different places to buy music.

The edge of my MacBook Pro are already tasking on my hands, I would not want that in my pocket all day long. Maybe in a regular sitting position it would be alright, but if I'm laying down or sitting in an irregular way, no.
Sure, it might look nice, but there is more to good design, especially in industrial design, than looking good. It needs to function correctly and feel good to use, even when it's in my pocket, before it needs to look pretty.
Not to mention if you leave it in your car or outside on a warm day. Yeah, it could happen with a MacBook, but I'd think you're more likely to have your phone with you more than you have your MacBook. And sure, you could get a case, but they make the phone more bulky, add weight, etc. The phone should be designed so a case is not necessary in any normal condition.

I can't imagine why Apple would have an event like this if there was going to be only Disney content available.
Especially, if they don't have better prices or selection than the Amazon store released last week. Also, if they don't offer renting they are crazy. Who will buy a movie for $14.99 off of the internet without the media? I have actually rented a movie from the Unbox store and despite a crappy UI, problems starting the download, and having to use an S-video cable to connect my laptop to the TV, I found the experience better than expected. 90minutes downloaded in 1.5 hours and available to stream in 25 minutes is more than acceptable for me.
