Looking forward to hard drives with this connector.
I bought two 2TB drives for my imovie library. I use one as a backup clone. I felt at the time I bought these that I was finally set. All movies on one drive for less than $100 (each). I see now that I will have an upgrade in a few years for speed purposes. By then perhaps 4TB or greater drives will be common and cheap.
The backup process will be a lot faster.
The other game changer with these drives will come with time machine backups. Right now the speed improvement by direct connection is not great enough to forgo the ease of wireless backups. Well if your hard drive changes 200gb content each day that might not be the case.
But when the thunderbolt drives come around, perhaps the speed advantage will be so great that people will opt for plugging their drives in directly once a day to backup rather than use wireless backups.

... Such is life amongst the Bread & Circuses crowd in the U. S. of A.
Last timeline of history I looked at seemed to indicate that gluttony predated the establishment of the U.S. government.
Personally speaking though, I must say that I think that engaging the services of more than two or possibly three prostitutes at a time is absolutely boorish behavior...

pfft, this should not be front page news, hell not even second page... just a bunch of hearsay from a CR that knows nothing about it and speculates BS.
Yeah, customer service reps are always soooo reliable.

I bought an iMac April 16. If apple releases a new model May 3rd, will they pity recent buyers and allow exchange/return for the new iMac????
Yes. Be nice and say the new iMac fits your needs better.

Watch the news on this right now ... they are talking about how huge Bin Laden is in Al-Queda ... he goes back to the beginning of it.
if anything Ayman al-Zawahiri is a distant #2 leader
Looks like Navy Seals played a big role in getting the job done ... cheers to them.
God knows that if the news is reporting something, its the truth.
Seriously? Why would news channels that helped in the march for war play this up at all?

Got one for my wife today. It's pretty sexy looking in person...pictures don't do it justice. I think it looks way nicer than the white iPad 2. Anyways, it definitely is SLIGHTLY thicker than my black iPhone 4.
EDIT: "it" meaning the white iPhone...not my wife. Even though she's sexy too.

way to go prioritizing cartoony graphics to chew up my valuable screen real estate instead of giving me something useful like a to-do list.
seriously...why does apple insist on making me use clunky-ass Outlook just to have an integrated email/calendar/to-do workflow? it's the simplest and most obvious feature hole to fill!
does anyone here actually find their "task" implementation useful at all?

It'll be a pathetic excuse for a cloud if it'll only stream in the US (which if they continue with this 1 datacenter model will be the case). Amazon will beat them here, hands down. Have you seen how many datacenters they have?
http://www.datacenterknowledge.com/archives/2008/11/18/where-amazons-data-centers-are-located/
^ That vs 1 datacenter...lets think...who's going to get the better performance...
Also, the point of the cloud is redundancy. What happens WHEN the 1 datacenter goes down (e.g power problems, network problems, natural disasters, etc)? Apple's will be wiped out in one move, Amazon just fail over to another DC location.

And by "copied Palm" of course you mean "patented themselves back before Feb. 2010."
http://www.tuaw.com/2010/02/03/apple-granted-patent-for-touch-sensitive-bezel/
http://www.patentlyapple.com/patently-apple/2010/02/apples-ipad-may-gain-an-intelligent-bezel-in-the-future.html
He's referring to inductive charging, not intelligent bezel, if I am correct.
FTA:
While the art weve seen shows some form of inductive or touch charging, our sources cant confirm whether or not Apples working on its own version of cable-free juicing. Theres also a swipe area shown in the drawing which appears to be on the bottom and / or top of the device that could very well be an NFC point, but thats pure speculation on our part.
Wondering why they don't if the hardware is there and the network supports it already.
Because the hardware is in the CDMA phone on Verizon. The AT&T iphone 4 doesn't have the same chip. If the iphone 5 does, it's still up to apple and at&t to enable it.
Do you still think it's ugly?
I think all iphone mockups are ugly. Only the official iphone renders and pictures on apple's website seem to do it justice. I hated the iphone 4 from giz's pictures even.

The UV protection necessary for the white iPhone didn't come out of thin air. The added thickness was likely to provide an additional layer of protection. I'd be curious to see its innards, which is no doubt just around the corner. C'mon iFixit, rip it apart!

Ok.......?
Who cares really?
It's white! That's all I care about :)
I'll tell you who care...
case manufacturers that Apple is constantly screwing.
It remains to be seen if this change will affect many but this constantly happens to these third party partners.
That slight move of the volume button probably cost some of them a great deal in retooling expenses. Apple could have given them a heads up, but, oh god forbid anyone know what the great ones are up too.
But hey what do you care, right?
Were all very glad you like your new phone and hope you find a case that fits!;)

Spent the day yesterday at Keeneland Race Track for opening day of its spring meet. I'll be heading back both today and tomorrow. I still have a ton of photos to sort through and process, so there should be more coming. I just wanted to get one up to set the mood :D

I wonder if this new pricing scheme is being enabled by the record labels with lower wholesale pricing to Amazon (to try, yet again, to take power out of Apple's hands), or if Amazon is simply doing this at a loss?
Why would Amazon want to take a loss - to support non-Apple mp3 players?
For Apple, they are not making much, if any money - they always planned it as a break-even business - the real value was the content eco-system tied to their products (= value for customers).

A native Mac OS X app that will run iOS apps.
Interesting possibility. It would be extremely difficult to emulate a complete iOS device (custom ASICs and all). But Apple could emulate just enough ARM instructions to emulate an app that was compiled by Xcode & LLVM (which would limit the way ARM instructions were generated), and used only legal public iOS APIs (instead of emulating hardware and all the registers), which could be translated in Cocoa APIs to display on a Mac OS X machine.
