Ooh the arguments are getting heated up in this thread :D
Thought I'd offer a light refreshment.
What no orange or cherry?
Sure Apple can offer 7 different iPod Nano colors but they can't offer more than 2 different Apple Kool Aid flavors?!?!?

I love how Apple is doing nothing out of the ordinary (with the location data collection)...yet they release a fix to "tracking bugs" that they purposefully coded into the OS. What a joke.

I voted this negative because Apple won't accept certain apps for doing reasonable things. "dangerous" if done incorrectly, but reasonable.
Until devs can do all of the low level things they need to, this is a bad move.

Great idea Macrumors! I hope I can hold out that long, but it would be even more exciting watching a video stream rather than refreshing a webpage. Hopefully the stream will work.

On a more serious note, I wonder how all this drama surrounding Apples DRM will impact the ODF argument? I mean, if you have the right to open a recording you PURCHASED on whatever type of player you wish, shouldn't you also have the right to open a document YOU CREATE, on any type of app that handles that type of data, without losing any functionality? I mean, shouldn't a Pages doc open on word without losing the formatting? Shouldn't an excel file open on Lotus? Did Steve Jobs forsee this? Is it all part of some masterplot???

Let us not compare Apples to turds.
Black berries now touch screen phones are really good. I loved my black berry... Hell i miss it. RIM makes a great smart phone, they are still holding strong to the one thing google and apple want most: Enterprise. ( I think if it ever leaves RIM it will go to Windows Phone.

Hello "Einstein," -- while the panels may be the same, and they are, you should do a bit more research before tagging others with hostility.
The color management of Apple Cinema HD is superior to that of the Dell due to firmware differences and interaction with Colorsync in the actual OS. We do high-end color management on both 23 and 30" Cinema HD's -- we have a Dell 24 inch as well. Without custom profiles the Dell pales in comparision to the Mac Cinema HD's -- Even with a Custom Profile the Dell is less useful to us as most of our nationwide clients have Mac OS systems with Cinema HD's -- we can send a digital proof and insure that our client sees what we see thanks to the firmware/OS Sync.
In this respects Dells are very expensive monitors for us to use as they force us to burn physical color prints and FEDEX to clients. We cannot afford this in our job costs. So for our business we'll take the Cheaper, Superior Apple Cinema HD's over the less predictable, more expensive Dell's.
You really should consider all angles before bashing.
DJO
Does this superior colour management include the horrendous pink colour casts the 23" ACD is notorious for?
Of course if all your clients are using ACDs then it makes your job easier. Your logic is flawed as this does not mean ACDs are therefore superior monitors.

installing the HD into your macbook pro? i'd like to know how that goes. i've seen some issues with the 1tb drives not fitting just right. (too thick)
highest I've ever been able to install is a 750GB.
I was able to fit my 1tb samsung into the harddrive slot just fine. That along with my ssd - awesome combination.

Please read my post again. Never did I say I was laughing at "you all" but rather the post "buddy". Hope I didn't touch a nerve.
Also who are you quoting?
Actually, you said:
Obviously the OP was wrong with what he did but love laughing at all the holier than thou responses.
Sorry, but that's the same at laughing at the people, ie, a form of being "Holier than thou." After all, what did your post add to this discussion except to say that you think you're above the comments being posted.
Nice try at excusing yourself though, "buddy".

The iPhone to Verizon won't happen, especially with the announcement today that Verizon is teaming up with Google and their Android phone. I at first thought the commercial was just a leverage ploy on Verizons part, working on Apple and their negotiations. Now I think it's just the first shot over the bow.
Time to look at unlocking and bailing to T-Mo again and get out of this crap-shoot called AT$T.
http://online.wsj.com/article/BT-CO-20091006-709550.html
i have been waiting for that announcement.
The iphone is great but the jailbreaking thing and the efforts made by apple to prevent jailbreaking is wearing.
It will be interesting to see if the jailbreaking community starts to move over to a more open platform (if its more open of course)

I voted Skunk's post as well so that accounts for one vote.
But if you voted skunk's post and so did I, it should go up to +2. And then if I vote negative, it should go down to 0, not -1.

You can't even check on orders already placed at Apple.com. The store is down.
thats what happened last wednesday before the iMacs/Minis were released. New hardware must be coming out today.

Although the data transferred may be the same or more with on-demand streams, when it's live there will be much higher simultaneous usage. With high-end hosting in general, simultaneous usage is the killer and not really total bandwidth usage. With the popularity of Apple these days the number of simultaneous streams could be extremely high (I mean, if MacRumors gets 100,000 visitors simultaneously think what Apple would get themselves).
I don't think expense is the issue here.
Apple can either:
1. Offer the stream only to the stores
2. Pay for massive bandwidth. Have you seen the profit from last quarter alone?! The people watching would most probably have bought an apple product of 5 recently!

Why are Apple on a witch hunt?
Apple should concentrate on fixing their problem instead of finger pointing and deflecting the issue onto other companies. We already know the problem isn't as severe on other devices as the iPhone 4.
The iPhone's antenna issue has been highlighted by other companies in newspaper, online and TV advertisements. Apple is just returning the favor.
I do think the external antenna makes things worse, but the companies Apple is targeting deserve this getting shoved right back in their faces.
PS: Apple has been working on fixing the issue. For starters, you get a free case, or if you're not satisfied you can return the phone for a full refund. Behind the scenes they are definitely trying to fix or minimize the problem as well. I don't know what more you can ask for, really.

So if another car company was hiding the same problem Toyota had, and Toyota pointed it out, that would be wrong? Why are the other companies denying it?
The funny part is none of the other companies are even denying it. Their response has been to complain about Apple bringing it up. The laws of physics should apply only to Apple.

Forgive me if these two points have been mentioned as I didn't read the whole thread, but;
From what I'm hearing, the cell chip in the iPhone is capable of working on upgraded networks. Now, I don't know what that means as far as LTE goes because I haven't bothered to research it, but I do that it's based off of 3g (long term evolution). This may render the iPhone capable of using that network with no hardware specific changes. If anything, Apple may have to offer different firmwares per carrier.
The other point though, which is the most interesting to me in that it's so important and no one ever really mentions it, is that Verizon's network doesn't multitask. How ironic that the phone which was continuously bashed for not having multitasking in the OS was one of the only phones on the market that could multitask on the network. I'm gonna go out on a hunch here and say that Apple will NOT release an iPhone on a network that doesn't allow for calling and web browsing at the same time. Especially after they've worked so hard on getting application multitasking to work the way they wanted to. Apparently, the LTE network is supposed to take care of this, but we'll have to wait and see.
Lastly, Happy New Year everyone!
