^^ Israel 80,that chart I suspect jests. The numbers between U.S. and R.F. are about equal although both have only mothballed those they say have been decommissioned and could be brought back into service at any time.

I think we should try to keep the software listed here just to whats flat-out free. Perhaps if someone wants, we can start a second thread to the tune of Not Exactly Free, But Worth It! Software. As a general rule, any software with a trial period isnt free, so we should probably keep it out of this thread in order to keep with the threads theme. (And BTW this isnt directed at anyone in particular.)
So lets keep it up, guys! What other free software you do like? :)

Apple should quit wasting time trying to block jailbreak and work on adding features that other phones have had for many years and that users have been screaming for since the iPhone 1 was released.

Having trouble computing what exactly is "overdone" about the UI of this app. It is simple, clean and well organized.
If you so desire, help a brother out and explain what is "overdone" about the UI?
Steve
He did things the Apple way and put design before function.
Tweetie 2 is beautiful, but not having push notifications is pathetic. Whats even more pathetic is his excuse that "its borderline impossible to do it reliably". Thats funny, because I have SimplyTweet & Echofon Pro and they both push great!

Try enabling Certificate Revocation checking on your fully updated Mac OS X install and see how long it takes for Mac App Store to show up and how long it then takes to go through the various tabs.
Also for fun - try enabling password for the screensaver and 60 minute idle logout. Then put your laptop to sleep and come back 60 min later only to have hung login window that accepts no input - works that way every time for me.
For all the jabs they took at Windows - Apple's is most untested OS after Linux distros. Looks like they only do surface tests - only the defaults are covered.
just out of curiosity.. do you file bug reports?
i'm pretty guilty of not...

Thankfully I cut my ties with that person very quickly and ensure all of my work was NEVER used by them. It was when I was much greener so it was a good thing to learn and enable me to set some very good boundaries
1) Never work with a friend of a friend.
2) Never work for free.
3) Never work for a start up business UNLESS it has a larger group behind it (Public/private equity group, blue chip client with a new business, etc.. is ok).
4) Never do work for a religious organisation (seriously not a good idea). Or for that matter a union...
5) If you lie with dogs you'll get flees. Never work on a project you wouldn't want other clients seeing as a client of yours on your Portfolio.
6) Never work with a company where they can't speak your native language... Cheque time comes and "miso soli me no undastandy".
7) Be choosy about who you want to work with. Talented designers will always find work while talentless designers wont.
I found in experience if you price yourself a certain way you tend to loose the "bottom feeding clients" as I like to call them. It also means the people who take up the service generally understand the price positioning thus have an idea of intrinsic value assigned to it.
Here's a links I've found rather amusing/helpful:
10 Client Personalities (http://www.graphicdesignblog.org/graphic-designers-client-personalities/)
Bad Clients and How to Avoid Them (http://freelancefolder.com/bad-clients-and-how-to-avoid-them/)
I also forgot about this gem of a client
To that last email about the site being developed on a Mac: WOW!...just WOW! I don't know what's worse; their ignorance of how websites work or the fact they confidently expected you to create a second site, free of charge:confused:
Thank you for all the advice and links. That bad client was a wake up call for me. I'm going to start gathering all the pricing and other info I can to help protect myself.

I'll pick up the white if someone is willing to trade straigh across. My black, for their white. Just to switch it up since I've had this black since the first launch. I didn't want white in the first place but eh why not.

I'm guessing you'll see the same form factor - similar to the 3G to the 3GS.
Updates will likely be limited to:
A5 Chip
64Gb
Higher Resolution Camera
GSM/CDMA in the same device
I can already hear Jobs, "It's a dual-core processor, IN A PHONE!". This is all speculation of course, but the updates are only going to be incremental.
There's no reason for design specs or sizes to leak out, because Apple doesn't need to share them with any case makers or partners - it will be the same size as the iPhone 4. So, you won't hear about it until it's announced at WWDC (I don't believe the hype that it's been moved - thats just paranoid). We're likely to hear about iOS 5 this month or next.
Apple needs to release something for the Summer Quarter (I don't know when their fiscal begins) for shareholders. If not, % growth in stocks will be down year over year for the quarter.
Not that it matters to me. I only update once every 2 years and I have an iPhone 4 :)

Occam's Razor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occam%27s_Razor) does dictate that the explanation Apple has offered up is the most likely. Unlike what some other blogs have been claiming (:cough: Gizmodo :cough: ) it's unlikely that Apple meant to leave an unencrypted tracking database available on each phone.
Further, I examined a map of my iPhone's database and there were some unexplained blobs. Unexplained that is until I read Apple's description, and then it all fit. I flew through Atlanta 4 times in the past year, spending a total of a couple of hours there. My mapped blobs on Atlanta were much larger than the entire weeks I spent in Montana and Wyoming. The only way this makes sense is if the data is actually crowdsourced, which is exactly what Apple claims.
So I see little reason to disbelieve today's statements. (Unless you are inclined towards conspiracy theories, which an unfortunately high % of our population seem to be.)

That's Adium with a custom theme, and MacLampsX (http://arcticmac.home.comcast.net/~arcticmac/software/maclampsx.html) doing the bulbs on the screen edges. I usually show my Dock, but didn't want to block any more of the bulbs than necessary.

Have people maybe stoped to think, that we may not get a new model this year? That the reason they are putting out the white model now, is to cover the fact we won't see a update till next year?

While I welcome these bug fixes, do I really have to endure 600+ megabyte downloads just to have them installed? That's what I went through with my 4G iPod touch and iPad 2 when iOS 4.3.1 came out.
I really hope that the upcoming iOS 5.0 will allow for incremental upgrades so you don't have to do such big downloads anymore in the future.
