Unauthorized selling of premium products is called "diversion" in the industry.
And I thought it was called "competition"...
I don't know about the US, but in Germany it is illegal for a manufacturer to demand a minimum resale price or to sanction resellers for their pricing.

In the U.S. complaint, Samsung accuses Apple of violating patents that "relate to fundamental innovations that increase mobile device reliability, efficiency, and quality, and improve user interface in mobile handsets and other products.
LOL
Can that be any more VAGUE?! They might as well be suing for the fact that samsung made phones before apple.
Anyone who thinks Apple's reason to sue was bad should just look at that!

It seems like Serlet is more of an independent worker who *thinks different* where as Craig is a hardworker but would just "follow." Not making a cheap shot, they're both really good at what they do, just an (maybe wrong) assumption of mine.
In any case, sad to see Serlet go.Definitely a WRONG ASSUMPTION OF YOURS. Did you even READ the article? It said:
Serlet will be replaced by Craig Federighi, currently Apple's vice president of Mac Software Engineering and who has led Mac OS X engineering for the past two years. Federighi is another former NeXT and Apple employee who spent ten years at Ariba before returning to Apple in 2009. Serlet notes that the transition should be seamless given Federighi's role in leading the current Mac OS X team.
The Dude is LEADING THE TEAM... FOR TWO YEARS! And you're saying he's the kind that just follows. Lame, dude. And btw, they all FOLLOW over at Apple. They follow Steve Jobs. He's the only one who is doing his own thing.
Here's what I wonder,... if Federighi has been leading the OS X team, what has Serlet been doing? Maybe his role was no longer needed and "decided to move on to explore other opportunities" ---- this might be a "saving face" move.

well, i'm 20 so i know the age group
the camera in the SK3 got worse then the 2
and the mp3 player market was a lot smaller or less mature then the phone market is now. maybe i'm looking at this with a closed mind, but what else can they add to a phone that isn't out there already? i mean, e-mail, browser, talking, texting, IMing, music, camera, calendar, note pad, games, voice recording it's all already out there. i guess if you can sync your iTunes having video playback that'd be kind of new... but i have video on my razr it just holds like a 4 second video.
So.. i guess i just dont see much room for "innovation" as far as features go. i dont really count things like increased storage as a new feature in this case.
so what should it have?

It would be great if Final Cut Pro got updated. At the moment, Adobe Premiere Pro is quite a lot better and has a more modern interface, which is kind of strange, as FCP is the industry standard.
WRONG! FCP is definitely not the industry standard. It gained a lot of traction in market share from Avid but has since regressed its gains over the last several years.

I think Apple will deliver a solid update to Final Cut Pro. I think this lag was caused a bit by the transition to 64-bit and the fact that Apple didn't manage to get Quicktime X completed in time. I think the next version of FCP will be 64-bit and will come with a new version of Quicktime X which will finally put Quicktime 7 to rest.
I would be surprised if we saw a 64 bit fcp before Lion. Apples qtkit API, which is thie only QuickTime API that you can compile in 64 bit, is really, REALLY primitive. Its going to require massive updating befor you would even think of running something like fcp with it. You cannot do anything more advanced than splice two videos together with it now. Hell even enumerating all th e codecs you can export to requires going down to 32 bits, and even the stuff that does compile in 64 bit requires a separate 32 bit process to actually do the work. T e sad thing is that apple has had plenty of time to update this API but they have essentially done nothing with it, which shows you how much they care about the pro users nowadays

i have to reply again:
i'm really liking this app!! it's super fast and i love the fact that i can choose from a list of my friends to send an @ to multiple peeps (like bandmates, project members, etc.)
the only thing that seems VERY slow is the initial linking to the phones addy app...
is everyone having the same problem with that? when i hit the addy card on someone's profile, it takes about 20-30 seconds until it transfers to the iphone's addy app.
it's pretty quick for me, but i'm not a big fan how it changes their name and if you already have an image tied to that person, it will overwrite it with their twitter pic

While this is a cool feature, I kind of already have a boatload of rollover minutes.
That and I don't have the unlimited messaging plan.
So essentially this doesn't help me in anyway.
Give me rollover data and I will be happy. That and cheaper unlimited messaging for a single user. I can have a family plan with 5 people and pay $30 for messaging, but on my own I pay $20? Or if those 5 people had separate plans they pay $100 total for unlimited messaging.

Do we all like price fixing ?
Apple products are too often kept at RRP - not sure if its always by agreements with apple - "don't discount more than 10% or lose authorised reseller status"
Obviously good for apple products, but not for the consumer.
My understanding of price fixing, is when two competing manufacturers sell the same type of product and agree to only sell at a certain price, usually to keep the product at an unnaturally higher price then necessary. An example of this would be if Apple, contacted Samsung, and discussed making their tablet computer for sale at a certain price, to keep the price igher so that both companies would make more profit.
However, this is not the case with the Ipad. Most electronic products are given a manufacturers retail price, and you as the retail store, do not have the right to sell at a larger than agreed upon discount. The way some companies get around this is by packaging products and accessories together. This is done by every major manufacturer, from Apple, Sony, Samsung, Sharp, Nintendo, Microsoft, etc... Go check the Tv's in Best Buy, and then check Fry's, and then some other retailers, they will all be the same price essentially. Look at the PSP's or PS3 or the Wii. All are price controlled by the manufacturer. there is nothing illegal about this. By using the term price fixing, your intimating that they are illegally controlling the price, but this is not the case.
